L'album, autoprodotto, è stato registrato al Doghouse di Henley-On Thames con archi, fiati e arrangiamenti vocali aggiuntivi registrati ad Abbey Road. L'album ha visto la band tornare di diritto nella classifica degli album del Regno Unito al numero 8, con tre singoli ("Nothing Lasts Forever", "I Want to Be There [When You Come]" e "Don't Let It Get You Down") che sono entrati nella top 50 britannica. Nothing Lasts Forever" (con i cori e il tamburello di Liam Gallagher) è diventata una delle canzoni più longeve e amate della band - una Top 10 nel Regno Unito e una delle preferite dai fan ancora oggi. Per celebrare il suo 25° anniversario, London Records pubblica "Evergreen" in vinile per la prima volta, con una prima stampa limitata in solido vinile bianco. È disponibile anche una nuova edizione rimasterizzata e ampliata in 2 CD, che include b-sides in studio, sessioni live e acustiche e versioni inedite di 33 brani.
