A pochi minuti da Hollywood, dalla Sunset Strip e dalle case discografiche di Los Angeles, il Laurel Canyon divenne la casa di un ibrido folk, country, rock e pop che comprendeva tutti, dai primi The Byrds e Buffalo Springfield ai Doors, Frank Zappa, Glen Campbell e i re del pop fabbricato The Monkees. Il fascino rustico del canyon e la vicinanza del principale covo folk The Troubadour attirarono una falange di cantautori e diedero vita al movimento country-rock. Il seguito dell'acclamata compilation di Grapefruit del 2022 "Heroes & Villains: The Sound of Los Angeles 1965-1968", la scrupolosa compilazione "I See You Live On Love Street: Music From Laurel Canyon 1967-1975" ripercorre la nascita e il graduale sviluppo della scena, fino a quando i Fleetwood Mac, rivitalizzati e trasferitisi, hanno portato il suono del Laurel Canyon a diventare stratosferico a metà degli anni Settanta.
