I Sabbat sono un gruppo musicale inglese Thrash metal, attivo negli anni ‘80.
Il nome della band si ispira ad una tipica festa pagana legata alla cultura celtica.
Formatisi a Nottingham in un periodo musicale per l'heavy metal inglese definito come "depressione post New Wave of British Heavy Metal", sono stati coraggiosi
ad abbandonare i cliché e sperimentare nuove sonorità.
Grazie a due demo molto apprezzate e una sessione su BBC Radio 1 nel Friday Rock Show, riescono a firmare un contratto con la Noise Records e a pubblicare due album:
'History of a Time to Come' (1988) e 'Dreamweaver' (1988).
Questo cofanetto MAD GODS AND ENGLISHMEN contiene i due album 'History of a Time to Come' e 'Dreamweaver', la storica esibizione live del concerto Thrashing East a Berlino est nel 1990 (mai pubblicato prima per intero su LP), la sessione del Friday Rock Show trasmessa su Radio 1 della BBC (inedita) e il DVD dello spettacolo The End of the Beggining (per la prima volta su DVD).
