Il nono album in studio "The Security of Illusion" è stato pubblicato nel 1993 e segna il ritorno di Jim Gilmour (tastiere) e Steve Negus (batteria), che avevano entrambi lasciato la band nel 1986. Questa nuova riunione ha sicuramente stimolato una nuova creatività nella band. Pur rimanendo fedele alle proprie idee, l'album presenta un suono leggermente più progressivo e più duro, che risveglia ricordi vividi del periodo dei primi anni '80. I fan lodano "The Security of Illusion" come un ritorno davvero appropriato della formazione originale. Con "Mind Over Matter" o "Stand Up", l'album presenta il lato roccioso dei canadesi, ma
non trascura un tocco morbido con la tenera ballata "Alone Again Tonight" o "Voila!", che è una bella strumentale di influenza classica.
Per questa riedizione, l'album è stato completamente rimasterizzato (2015). L'elenco delle tracce è completato da due bonus track aggiuntive dal vivo, appena registrate ad Amburgo durante il tour europeo del 2015.
