La prima raccolta dedicata a Marianne Faithfull da ‘An Introduction to…’ del 2001 ed anche la prima a contenere materiale raro ed inedito dall’antologia della Island ‘A Perfect Stranger’ uscita nel 1998. Contiene 4 brani inediti, 22 delle 28 tracce vengono per la prima volta pubblicate in vinile e 9 registrazioni debuttano in digitale/2CD; 2LP & 2CD disponibili dal 16 SETTEMBRE 2022. ‘Songs Of Innocence And Experience’ offre una visione definitiva dei primi 30 di carriera di Marianne per le label Decca e Island, con le versioni originali di tutti i suoi singoli più importanti incluso l’ultimo 7” pubblicato per la Decca ‘Something Better’/‘Sister Morphine’ e varie alternate take della seconda metà degli anni ’60. Il titolo ‘Songs of Innocence and Experience’ ben riassume il cambiamento dello stile musicale di
Marianne, partendo dal morbido folk-pop orchestrale degli anni ’60 per arrivare alle sonorità new wave punk del suo ritorno fine anni ’70 con l’album Broken English, contraddistinte dalla nuova impronta vocale della cantante. La copertina, commissionata esclusivamente per questo progetto, è opera dell’artista lituana di base a
Berlino Aistè Stancikaitè, e il packaging contiene molte rare immagini di Marianne Faithfull.
