Scott Jolin The King Of Ragtime

Soprannominato il "Re del Ragtime", Scott Joplin (c. 1868-1917) è stato uno dei compositori più importanti e influenti all'inizio del XX secolo. È nato a Texarkana, in Texas, ed è cresciuto in una famiglia di musicisti. All'età di sette anni scoprì un pianoforte nella casa di un vicino e iniziò a sperimentarlo a orecchio. Nel 1897, Joplin ebbe la sua svolta, quando completò il suo Maple Leaf Rag. The Maple Leaf Rag e The Entertainer sono tra le sue opere più famose, l'ultima delle quali è diventata ancora più celebre grazie al film La Stangata (Premio Oscar 1973). Phillip Dyson, uno dei pianisti inglesi più ricercati e innovativi, ha registrato lopera completa per Decca, riaffermando limportanza dellopera di Joplin nel repertorio americano.
