Louis Armstrong, noto anche con il soprannome di Satchmo, è stato uno dei musicisti più celebri del 900, il suo contributo allo sviluppo del jazz è virtualmente incommensurabile. Eppure, la sua personalità prorompente è stata così forte da mettere in ombra i suoi contributi come musicista e cantante. Vero virtuoso della tromba, Armstrong aveva un tono unico e uno straordinario talento per l'improvvisazione melodica.
